1. Why Renishaw Laser Calibration Is Non-Negotiable
Precision is not created in the CNC controller software; it is engineered into the cast iron bed and validated with optical metrology. When inspecting a CNC machine tool prior to export shipment, always demand the full Renishaw XL-80 laser interferometer compensation dataset for every single linear axis.
Essential 10-Point Factory Acceptance Checklist:
- Full Stroke Pitch Error Compensation: Continuous laser mapping verifying positioning within ±0.005 mm and repeatability within ±0.003 mm across full travels.
- Renishaw QC20-W Ballbar Dynamic Circularity: Circular contour test at 1000 mm/min verifying servomotor synchronization and squareness between X and Y axes.
- Spindle Radial & Axial Runout: Dial test indicator reading at spindle nose and 300 mm test arbor below 0.003 mm and 0.008 mm respectively.
- Continuous 72-Hour Dry-Run: Continuous multi-axis dry-run test checking thermal rise of spindle bearings and ball screw bearing blocks.
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Circuit Pressure Holding: Pressure drop verification on hydraulic chuck, tailstock, and pneumatic tool unclamp cylinder.
- Electrical Cabinet CE Safety Compliance: Phase sequence protection, 24V DC safe control circuit, emergency stop loop verification.
- Vacuum Seaworthy Export Packaging: Aluminum foil vacuum heat sealing with desiccant bags inside solid fumigated wooden crates.
